Persons unnamed broke into my flat while I was at work today and stole my entire DVD collection. Thousands of pounds worth of the finest (and the not-so-fine) in entertainment, gone, just like that. I feel sick and, bizarrely, pissed off because I'm not going to find out what happened to Rico and Sweitec after Castillo made them go to a leather bar because Sonny and Zito were skiving.

*hugs* Oh my God, I'm so, so sorry. What a nasty, shitty thing to happen. You have my huge sympathies and I hope the police catch the fuckers - or they get electrocuted by their DVD players trying to watch the stolen goods.

I have to go through and catalogue everything they took for the insurance people, and I just keep breaking down and crying. I know it's just material stuff, but... my DVDs! And knowing someone has been in my house, touching my things... I have to leave everything as close to it's regular state as possible for the forensics, but all I can think is how much I want to clean and bleach everything to obliterate all traces.

They left yesterday and I can safely say the flat is now cleaner that it has been since I first moved in. I've spent the rest of the morning finishing up the list of what was missing - it's over 8k worth of DVDs, and I'm like, nobody's gonna believe anyone can spend that much on DVDs... Still, fuck it. Next paycheque, I'm going to get myself some new stuff.

Ugh! That’s so horrible! My flat was burgled many years ago, and in addition to the stuff they took, just the idea that someone had been through my dresser and closet and touched all my things creeped me out so much. I ended up washing all of my clothes, which was the best I could do at the time. Sigh! I’m so, so sorry your DVDs all got stolen though. Yikes!

I know, I want to clean everything but I have to sit tight because SOC are coming back tomorrow and I have to leave everything as un-bleachscrubbed as possible so they can catch these little assholes and put them in prison where they will be force-fed detergent or at least buttfucked 'til they die from internal bleeding. It does make me feel a little better to know that other people have had this happen to them and apparently survived, though. As my mum said, at least they weren't crazy and they didn't hurt the fuzzies or wait for me to get home.

Well, I've got insurance which theoretically covers everything, but it will take a couple of months for the cheque to come through and a lot of my collection isn't available anymore or was bloody hard to track down in the first place. They stole my PS2 with the dodgy power lead too; I hope it fucking electrocutes them and they die and the smell of rotting corpse-flesh brings the police to the door and OH LOOK! There's my DVD collection. Failing that, it's a shopping spree on Amazon come July/August.

I don't think they did; the police who interviewed me and the SOC said it was probably a crime of opportunity - they didn't take anything big, so they don't seem to think it was planned.

It'll be a couple of months before I see any money from the insurers anyway. I'm just going to buy myself some new things with my next paycheque; I'm thinking House, the Sentinel, maybe the second season of ultimate guilty pleasure the Tribe...
