I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I started taking an interest in both shows at around the same time, but every now and then I'm struck by the disparity in the was the crew of Galactica and the personell at Stargate Command react to success. I mean, can you imagine if they switched commanding officers for a while? And like, maybe Galactica was running out of washing powder, so they send out Team Raptor and they find a whole planet made of washing powder, and then the Cylons are all, "Rarr no this is our washing powder!" but then Lee and Starbuck save the day through wacky hijinks and they bring the washing powder back to the Fleet, and everyone on Galactica is all like, "Yeah! Woo! YEAH! CLEAN CLOTHES! LET'S ALL JUMP AROUND AND HUG! WOOOOOO!" and General Hammond would just be standing there absolutely fucking horrified.

And then, back at the SGC, the Controllin' Worms are attacking (again) but then SG1 manage to defeat them through a combination of sass and science and... stupid archeological things and the Controllin' Worm ship explodes and Earth is safe and SG1 emerge from the wormhole and the SGC are like, *polite claps* and Adama's there all like, "WTF is wrong with you people?", only in a much more awesome way because dude, he's Commander Adama.

So that had absolutely no relevence to anything whatsoever, and now I'm going to eat cake.

I have no clue what you're babbling about, but if you'd mentioned Cameron Mitchell I would have had a second of pausing and thinking about Ben Browder's ass, but you didn't, so yeah. *lost*

I never watched any SG1 before this season and then don't even ask me what any plot details are about because I get distracted...easily *cough*Ben's ass*cough*. I wish Jack was still there, because I hate Daniel.

I don't have a TV aerial so I only watch shows once they come out on DVD, so I'm still on season 7. Plus I watched everything hopelessly out of order and I tend to focus in on how awesome Jack is, so my knowledge of the plots is pretty much limited to "Controllin' Worm. Other Controllin' Worm. Skanky Lady Controllin' Worm. WRAITH!"

That said, I wish they'd stop dicking around with the core cast - it doesn't work when you take one of them away. It didn't work without Daniel, and it certainly won't work without Jack. If the creators feel a driving need to create new characters, for Gods' sake put them in Stargate: Atlantis. It's already the red-headed stepchild of the original series; a few cast changes won't go amiss.

Actually I've heard the ratings are up this season from the last few and SG1 is doing very well. I guess a lot of people like me who never tuned in did it to see Claudia and Ben back. There's a lot of Farscape fans who didn't watch until this last season. I still don't have any wish to go watch back episodes (I like my sci-fi out of military type suits, it's my main beef against a lot of shows). Though, Richard Dean Anderson wanted to leave and so they brought in a very popular actor who's already got a huge sci-fi following who could possibly keep the show adrift and he's done so.

Damn Richard Dean Anderson, how dare he have a life outside of playing a character I like! This is like that time when Liam Neeson played a Catholic priest and spitefully didn't molest boys just to annoy me.

I never got into Farscape; watched a couple of episodes, decided that Nigel dude was like the bastard lovechild of Yoda and Virgil from Mighty Maxx, and went on my way. Though oddly, today at work I did get dragged into a debate over whether BSG or Farscape was the better show. (BSG totally won, if only because one of the opposing side was disqualified for being from New York and the other for being ginger and... liking Farscape).

... but I liked Farscape!! Never did watch BSG though. Tried SG1 but got lost on the plot lines. and then I formed a fear of scifi programs for a while.
