May. 8th, 2013 11:20 amThings that I love about the Losers comic:
*Jensen hacking in a pirate hat and boxer shorts
*Jensen's star-shaped sunglasses
*Roque shooting Jensen's fish for no reason other than to be mean
*All the storylines that were just Aisha having adventures on her own
*That scene where Aisha wants to saw that one dude's hand off and Clay's like, "No!" and Aisha's all, "If you loved.me, you would let me take them" and Clay is like, wtf...
*They all parachute out of a plane and Cougar's hat is attached to his shirt via bungee lead!
*That hug. You know the one.
Things that I'm glad didn't make it into the film:
*Roque being full on, balls-to-the-wall evil. His whole evil ex-boyfriend arc in the movie was way better (also, it totally leaves room for redemption fic and/or fix-it fic, both of which I love. Comic!Roque doesn't get redemption fic. He'd probably snip off your eyelids and laugh at you if you tried. And then shoot your fish.)
*Evil twins. Just no.
*How much more damaged Cougar is in the book than he was in the film - he was already pretty broken in the movie version, but it was way worse in the comics because you got that flashback scene where you see what he was like before he had to mercy-kill a dude with a carved-off head and then got splattered with burning exploded Bolivian children.
*THE WHOLE ENDING OMGNOES! Give me the birth of Pooch's son and the team at a Petunias game over sadness and character death any day.

Date: 2013-05-09 02:00 am (UTC)I totes agree, re: the movie ending, and re: Roque. He's so much better in the movie, and also Idris Elba.
(Also, hi? I'm shit at communication and haven't talked to you in a hojillion years.)

Date: 2013-05-09 09:47 pm (UTC)I remember watching the movie the first time and being SO HEARTBROKEN when Idris Elba!Roque turned out to be evil - Daddy Winchester's betrayal!face and Roque being all like, "No, you betrayed us!" because you could totally see where he was coming from (even though obviously one should never cause Daddy Winchester to have betrayal!face because it causes a fatal build-up of sadness in viewers) and all the way through I hoped Idris Elba and Clay were pulling a double-cross and at the end Roque would be all, LOL JK FUCK U JASON PATRIC SRSLY, and it never happened and SAD CRIES. And then I read the comics amd I was like, I will TOTALLY take heartbreak and betrayal over this unredeemable asshole any day omg!
And Cougar! And the nuke! Was there any need?! I guess I'm just a wussy at heart, because I love the upbeat fuzzy Journey-soundtracked movie ending SO MUCH MORE than the book ending. (Also, I may have misinterpreted it, but it seemed like either Pooch left Jolene or she kicked him out in the comics - champagne in the rain is so much better than divorce and sourz!)
And hiiiiiiiii! And yes, I too am useless at commenting and replying - and in the case of Dreamwidth, even remembering to read my Reading page!

Now I'm going to go put on Journey and imagine everybody alive and happy and attending soccer games, then finding out that actually Roque was just protecting them and taking Max down from the inside, so really he's okay and comes back to be Daddy Winchester's boyfriend again, the end.

Date: 2013-05-15 11:49 pm (UTC)Wouldn't a Losers castle be held together with duct tape rather than glue? Obvs. it would also be canary yellow so it matched ALL THEIR TRANSPORT and Jensen could be ridiculously bouncy and happy about it and Roque would be like, "This is not a sweet castle at all" and Daddy Winchester would be all, "This castle is an American classic!" and Roque would be like, "Yes, a classic piece of shit" and then, I dunno, plot device, plot device, sexytimes.
There's a deleted scene/alternate ending on the DVD in which Roque wears a hat (not a Cougar hat, which none may touch, it's an army beret thing so its allowed) and there's this other dude who is called Max but isn't Jason Patric and Roque is like working for him but OBVIOUSLY it is part of his and Daddy Winchester's plan to destroy evils, and also to have a sequel.
Alternatively, I am pretty sure that Journey has healing powers, like the Care Bear Stare or those ponies with butterfly wings who cured evilness by sprinkling butterfly pony wing dust on dudes. So basically they just need to play Journey really loud at Roque and he will be all healed and then he and Daddy Winchester can be in beautiful love again and NO MORE BETRAYAL FACE NOT ALLOWED.
