Dudes, I just finished watching Escaflowne and I never picked up on this before, but is Folken kind of retarded or what? 'Cause, you know, he keeps sending Dilandau into these situations that obviously need a bit of delicate handling and then he gets all outraged and cranky when Dilandau starts setting fire to shit in the middle of a mission.

And okay, the first couple of times you sent him to kill one dude or nick one Guymelef and he ended up burning an entire city to the ground, maybe you'd think it was inexperiance or the heat of battle or whatever, but by the sixth or seventh time he pulls the exact same stunt, wouldn't you be like, "Okay, you stay home and mind the Fortress, Chesta can handle this since we're only going to collect one fucking sword, you little prick!"

Stupid Zaibach. If you're going to hire people that dumb to be your Stragegos, you don't deserve to rule the fucking world. Assholes.

In defence of the dragon, I think the Fanelian royal house had quite a bit of inbreeding going on before Varie came along - there's that flashback scene in the woods where all the samurai or whatever are like OH MAN TOMORROW WE'LL TOTALLY LAUNCH A SNEAK ATTACK AT DAWN, DUDES WOULDN'T IT SUCK IF THEY HEARD US, OH MAN ARE WE LOUD OR WHAT?! And Folken was dumb enough to look away from the dragon during that fight, even though it was clearly not fatally wounded and staring right at him. What a div.

Did you notice how Van practically begged Hitomi to stay with him at the end? And I'm sure part of that was the power of TRUE LOVE, but I bet part of it was that he knew she was his best chance of having children without webbed fingers and toes. Poor Van.

Hello. I found your journal while journal surfing and had to say - the most recent movie reviews were so funny that I'm now compelled to watch them, and I, too, recently finished Escaflowne and wondered the same thing about Folken. Good to know I'm not the only one!
