I think Buffy has ruined me for all other fandoms. No matter what show I watch, inevitably the thought will occur to me that there should be a musical episode in which everyone sings and dances merrily, except Dawn, who dies horribly and is laughed at by all. It's like Angelus; no other villian can ever match Angelus for pure, unadulterated class. And no show can ever be as good as Buffy, because no other show has a musical episode. Except Angel, because, dude, Puppet Cancer!

So I'm there watching that episode of BSG where they find the ship with all the sleeping people in it and then they wake up and they all go to this planet with the annoying little robot dudes who think Starbuck is a girl (and oh my, isn't that hilarious a quarter of a century later?), and he's talking to the kids about his wacky misadventures and he's like, "There were Cylons to the left of me, Cylons to the right.." and I'm there expectantly waiting for the instrumentals to kick in with "And here I am, stuck in the middle with you."

And then he doesn't, and I feel sad inside.

I tend to think like this often, as well. I think many of my fandoms would be greatly improved if set to music...Yugioh (especially Yugioh), Harry Potter, Escaflowne...hell, everything would be better as a musical.

I don't think Yugioh really needs to be any trippier than it already is, but oh God, can't you just imagine Draco belting out some high-energy soliloquy to the accompaniment of 80's-style electric guitar riffs? Awesome!

Plus, Dilandau and Celena totally need to have a duet. Surrealism is fun!

Aww, I think a Yugioh Musical would be grand. They'd all be dancing around in sequins and stuff... except Yami, who stays in his fetish leather and sings the pseudo-rock power ballad.

Haha, that'd be awesome XD And Harry could have his CAPSLOCK!emo moments fully realised in whining guitar and moody lighting.

Doesn't their VA sing anyway? I seem to dimly recall hearing that she did... The Dragonslayers should do some sort of co-ordinated dance routine, too.

Kaiba has to have an Interpretive Dance scene, involving a lot of very large, feathery fans and glittery eye makeup.

Oh jeez, you can just see it - a rickety wooden chair, spotlight on an otherwise empty stage and playing to an empty bar with all the stools put up on the table - full on wangst fest that suddenly breaks out into this wailing and thrash-metal sequence that has everyone over the age of thirteen rolling their eyes and muttering "Fuck's sake.."

I know Hitomi's VA sang, didn't know about Dilandau's. It's been a while since I watched Club Escaflowne.

Hey now, Xena had not one, but at least TWO musical epidoes! Where else can we see Ted Raimi belting out "Dancing in the Moonlight" in a so-very-gay-foreigner accent, all the while ripping off David Bowie's Jareth costume?

Man, how did I miss them both? Although, admittedly, I went off it when the whole Kevin Sorbo thing started occuring and never really got back into it. Still, if Amazon ever starts hawking the boxsets for a tenner, I am so there.
