You've actually seen A Home at the End of the World?! I was starting to think it existed in some dimension that only I could access - nobody I mention it to has heard of it!
I shall definately check out As Meat Loves Salt, thanks for the reccy! As for others, I'm in the middle of reading The Rose Demon by Paul Doherty, which is a medieval murder-mystery with, as the name suggests, added demons, Haven't finished it, but it's thoroughly enjoyable so far.
Although not strictly speaking gay-themed, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens remains to this day my absolute favourite book, and is pretty slashy. I also love John Connolly's crime/supernatural books, with Dark Hollow being my favourite so far. I'm a fan of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin historical novels, Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe books, Jeff VanderMeer's Amergris novels, Micheal de Larrabeiti's Borrible trilogy, Richard Adams' Watership Down, Peter Beagle's The Last Unicorn, Walter Moers' 13 and 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear, anything by Jostein Gaardner but particually Through The Glass Darkly, Tove Jansson's Moomintroll books, Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, especially the ones featuring Granny Weatherwax and Agnes Nitt (Carpe Jugulum and Masquerade are my personal favourites), Tom Holland's The Vampyre, Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint (though not the sadly disappointing sequel, Fall of the Kings") and Harry Benshoff's "Monsters in the Closet", an exploration of sexual othering in horror films.
And oh Jesus, looking back on that, no wonder I never get anything done.
Filmwise, I recommend Pump up the Volume, Heathers, Interview with the Vampire and Gypsy 83.
